In the chase, Angie Brown fell 1 shy of a half-century with a crucial knock at first drop, well supported by Ash Murdoch and Tylah Drochmann who brought the chase home with scores of 39* and 55 respectively – Chicken to Tylah!

Men’s 2nd XI

155 DEF BY WEST IVANHOE 4-366

It was a day to forget for the 2s, coming up some quality opposition in West Ham Ivanhoe. Lanno was very economical (2.2) early on, Amjy did well to hold down an end against some quality hitters and Nails picked up a dirty 3-for. With West Ivanhoe reaching 366, we had a crack but our best hope was just spending some time out in the middle which Smithy did scoring 58 – Chicken to Smithy!

Men’s 3rd XI

7-214 DEF BY MULGRAVE 8-245

The 3s had a tough assignment trekking out to Mulgrave but they were up for the contest. Mulgrave’s openers got 100 on the board despite tidy bowling efforts from openers Angus K and Dom ‘Blu-ray’ van Slageren. In the wickets were Tom ‘Gravity’ Newton with 3-for and skipper Naj bagged two. Mulgrave racked up a solid 245. Following up his performance with the ball, Tom got us off to a decent start with 36, Naj also contributing with 32. Things were looking a bit grim at 4-85, which brought Wheels to the crease. Wheels went through the gears as he hit a swashbuckling 79 off 70 balls to bring us almost within reach but still 31 runs short in the end.

Men’s 4th XI

8-213 DEF BY MWUCC 8-271

In the 4s, Mount Waverley had a stick first and got to work, compiling 271 runs. Raph and Ethan got the big fish openers and club debutant Shivam Aswal picked up 2-for. It was a big score to chase and we didn’t get off to the best start before Shivam came in at no. 4 and scored 66, sharing a solid partnership with Ethan who notched up 35 runs. Declan Niere did a great fill-in job scoring 41 red off 31 however we ended up a fair margin short. Chicken to debutant Shivam!

Men’s 5th XI

3-147 DEF HOLY TRINITY 6-146

The 5s came up against ECA newcomers Holy Trinity and were sent out to field. Their top order notched up a couple of retired 50s but it dropped away from their as Geoff Smith (1-13 off 7), Empty (2-18 off 7) and Roady (2-11 off 6) kept them quiet, Holy Trinity reaching 146 (that’s not enough!). Matt ‘The Wizard’ Aulich got us off to an awesome with 50 retired off 49 rocks, Empty doing his thing at no. 4 with a solid 41 and Eddie and Tyler getting the red ink to guide us home within 21 overs. Chicken to Matt!

Vets Navy
